Blanche L. “Tootsie” Holman

Blanche Lorine “Tootsie” Holman, 98, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born at home to her parents, George and Dena (Schick) Cramer at 503 S. New York in Sedalia on August 22, 1921.

On October 6, 1940, she married Leo Holman who preceded her in death on December 1, 2000.

She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1939. She played the drums in the marching band. She thought it was neat that her grandson, Curt, was also a drummer at Smith-Cotton 50 years later. She really loved Curt’s dog, “Hans,” who came to visit and eat with her often.

She went to work at Bothwell Hotel coffee shop as waitress and hostess in 1939 and worked there for 23 years.

When Holiday Inn opened in 1963, she went to work for Mr. Bingaman as head banquet waitress and hostess. She worked there seven years.

After Holiday Inn, she went to work for Jim Mathewson at LeRoy’s Steak House. LeRoy’s was popular. She enjoyed working there. She said, “Never a dull minute at LeRoy’s.”

When her friend and neighbor since 1946, E.W. Thompson, built the Ramada Inn, he insisted she come to work for him. “This food and banquet business is all yours! Here’s the keys!” Her favorite group at Ramada was the Rotary Club. After 57 years in food service she retired. She said, “she loved every minute of it.”

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, George F. “Buster” Cramer in 1956. He was only 33 years old.

She is survived by her son Loy L. Holman, grandson Curt Holman, both of Sedalia; granddaughter, Christy Fernando, and her husband, Joe, and their three kids, Brooklyn, Jordan and Andrew, all of Foster City, Ca.
