Bill Reed

William Calvin “Bill” Reed, 70, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 28, 1955, in Windsor, son of James Nathan Reed and Shirley Ann (Warren) Reed.

On October 20, 1974, in Sedalia, he married Jean Ann (Maltsbarger) Reed.

Bill was a 1973 graduate of Green Ridge High School and graduated from State Fair Community College. He worked for Ag-Coop for 35 years, retiring as the Sedalia branch manager in 2017. He took pride in helping farmers grow and harvest the best crops.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed raising cattle, attending cattle shows and sales, growing sweet corn, and gardening. He especially loved Thanksgiving, which was made even more meaningful in the years when it fell on his birthday. He always looked forward to the food, the time together, and being with family. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean; one daughter, Tara Wirt (Matthew); one son, Stetson Reed (Bradley); five grandchildren, Ryder Wirt, Gracye Wirt, Harper Reed, Adison Reed, and Ramey Reed; two brothers, James Reed and Richard Reed; and one sister, LeeAnn Musslin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, George Reed.

A private burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery.
