Archie “Paul” Landes, Jr., 78, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026.
He was born January 28, 1948, in Sedalia, the son of Archie Paul Landes, Sr. and Dorothy Genevieve (Vansell) Landes.
In 2004, in Kansas City, he married Lee Parish.
Paul served honorably in the United States Navy as a medic. He began his career as a teacher before becoming a home builder. He was a talented builder and took pride in his work, building many upscale homes and lake cabins. He was also someone who could fix just about anything.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping at the lake. He was a good man who will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Lee; two children, Kathryn “Katie” Landes and Archie Paul “Trey” Landes, III, both of Columbia; a granddaughter, Vera Landes; three sisters, Linda Vedder, of Springfield, Janet Shelby Thomas, of Lee’s Summit, and Nancy Melton, of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cathy Berlin.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
