Jeff and Megan Page purchased Heckart Funeral Home after Sue Heckart retired in January 2019. The Heckart family proudly served the Sedalia community for 70 years.
Our rich history began in 1918 when Ernest Gillespie founded the Gillespie Funeral Home. Mr. Gillespie believed that personal and professional service, quality merchandise, a modern facility and fair prices would create a desire for his services.
In June of 1948, Del and Stella Heckart along with their daughter, Sue, moved to Sedalia after purchasing the Gillespie Funeral Home.
Over the years the Heckart family has seen many changes take place in Sedalia, but they have embraced the same beliefs and traditions that Mr. Gillespie started in 1918. Many improvements have been made to the funeral home to better serve the community.
In January 2011, the Heckart Family Center opened its doors on the south side of the funeral home. This state-of-the-art facility houses Sedalia’s first and only crematory, as well as Sedalia’s only pet crematory, PALS Pet Loss Services. The Heckart Family Center provides a large room that can be used for funeral dinners or various life events.
It is the humble desire of Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Services to serve every family honestly and well.
The professional traditions of Mr. Gillespie and Del, Stella and Sue Heckart are continued today through the efforts of Jeff Page, Chris Dady, Donna Plummer, Jerry Page, Jim Schoen and Ron Acklin.
We encourage you to compare prices, facilities, services, and staff. We believe that you will find a foundation of personal and professional service, quality merchandise, a modern facility and fair prices.
