In Loving Memory…

Darlene Lewis

Darlene Lewis, 77, of Smithton, formerly of Otterville, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Darlene was born on October 19, 1939 in Marshall, daughter of David Clarence Gochenour and Grace Alma Coffman Gochenour.

On August 25, 1956, at her parent’s home in Otterville, she was united in marriage to Warren Ray Lewis.

Darlene graduated from Otterville High School in 1957. She worked for 51 years at Bluhm Lumber Company in Smithton, where she was the manger and bookkeeper.

She enjoyed going to the boat, and watching Mizzou, Chiefs or Royals games. She loved to find a good bargain at a garage sale or by using a coupon wherever she went.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to all.

Including her husband Warren, she is survived by two children, Melissa “Lisa” Alexander of Smithton, and David Lewis (Tammy) of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Daniel Lewis, Chantry Alexander, Jodie Akers and Debbie Lewis; three great-grandchildren Conn, Jasper and Felicity; and two sisters, Sharon Oehrke and Jackie Wood, both of Smithton.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Melinda, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday August 7, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.

Casket bearers will be Daniel Lewis, Chantry Alexander, Larry Huffman, Rob Largent, Matt Adams, and Chad Oehrke.

Honorary bearers will be Steven Akers, Tim McKain, Delbert Smith and Rick Alexander.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.
